Everyone in this asylum enjoys these fried confections in their own way, but absolutely none ([[Chaplain|well]]...) enjoy them with dead bodies. That's why there's a room in the northern parts of [[Medbay#Donut 2|Medbay]] called the '''Morgue''', dedicated entirely to storing dead bodies away from the crew.

Theoretically, like a real morgue, this little corner bellow [[Medbay#Chiron|Medbay's inner pharmacy area]] is supposed to be used to preserve bodies for autopsies and [[Detective#Forensics|forensics]]; hence, the [[Medical Objects#Morgue Unit|morgue units]], surgical equipment, bottles of embalming fluid, mortician's suit, and [[Security Objects#Forensic Scanner|forensic scanner]]. In practice, however, most of the forensics work happens ''before'' the body gets sent here, leaving the body at the mercy of the Medical staff.

This peculiarly blue-white area in the western end of the Medical Research Nacelle is the '''Morgue''', a place where dead bodies are stored. If you're a living person, you can reach this room by going through [[Medbay#Horizon|Medbay's]] front door (that place with the red plus on black-grey tile), going straight forward pass the [[Medical Objects#Cryogenic Healing Pod|cryogenic healing pods]] into a green-blue hallway, and then taking a left at the monkey pen.  If you're a dead person (or an...unusual living person), then someone will probably send you here by shoving your body through one of the black morgue chutes in [[Medical Doctor#The Cloner|Cloning]] and [[Medbay#Horizon|Medbay Lobby]].

In real life, a morgue is where doctors keep and organize dead bodies awaiting certain medical procedures, primarily autopsies. This is SS13, not real life though, and in SS13, bodies usually pile up into a chaotic mess in either [[Medical Doctor#The Cloner|Cloning]] or [[Robotics#Horizon|Robotics]], with the morgue as a dead-end for people who can't be revived rather than a waiting room. Whoever designed this room understood this pretty well, for on top of the typical [[Medical Objects#Morgue Unit|morgue units]] and closet of [[Medical Objects#Biosuit|biosuit gear]], instead of surgery tools, embalming fluid, or forensics gear, there's a [[Food and Drinks#Fish|fish]], fresh out of its [[Medical Objects#Bandage|bandage]] wrappings for humiliating the dead, like some darkly comedic version of that Monty Python skit.
 
Another unusual choice: a black chute that leads back into [[Medical Doctor#The Cloner|Cloning]], on top of the usual black chute into the [[Chapel#Horizon|Crematorium]].

Some people like their donuts glazed. Some like them frosted, with plenty of sprinkles for good measure. Others enjoy them filled; still others enjoy them knotted. Everyone in this asylum enjoys these fried confections in their own way, but absolutely none (well...) enjoy them with dead bodies. That's why there's a room in the northern parts of Medbay called the Morgue, dedicated entirely to storing dead bodies away from the crew.

But it's not just for storing dead bodies; it's also for preserving and analyzing them for crime scene investigation (or something like that). Hence, all these surgical tools, bottles of embalming fluids, forensic scanners, and the adorable local Virginia opossum, Morty.

There is no vent. Good thing these corpses don't smell. And can't smell for that matter.

Let the bodies hit the floor; it's the Morgue! Theoretically, like a real morgue, this little corner bellow Medbay's inner pharmacy area is supposed to be used to preserve bodies for autopsies and forensics; hence, the morgue units, surgical equipment, bottles of embalming fluid, mortician's suit, and forensic scanner. In practice, however, most of the forensics work happens before the body gets sent here, leaving the body at the mercy of the Medical staff.

Sometimes, they're pretty tame. One of the Medical Doctors might just take it to cloning or attempt to heal the body up for some re-animation. Or a Roboticist might take the body to their lab and extract the brain to use in a cyborg. It usually goes as expected, but if the body just isn't good for cloning/re-animation/robot conversion...well, expect the Chef to be busy. And don't be surprised if Robotics suddenly has a few new...decorations.

Morty the Possum's Mortuary Practice and Pizzeria.

This pristine white room left of Robotics is the Morgue. In theory, corpses are supposed to be stored for forensic examination and revival. Hence, the box of body bags for transporting corpses, the scalpel & saw on operating table combo for extracting bullets, the bottle of formaldehyde for preserving corpses, and the forensic scanner for, well, doing forensics.

In practice, however, the corpses just go straight to (and pile up in) either cloning or robotics, so this is really just a home for Morty, the station's local Virgina possum. He's a sensitive but resilient kind of guy; try not to scream around him or take the meatball pizza he's guarding. He takes his job of managing sudden autopsy snack breaks quite seriously.

This peculiarly blue-white area in the western end of the Medical Research Nacelle is the Morgue, a place where dead bodies are stored. If you're a living person, you can reach this room by going through Medbay's front door (that place with the red plus on black-grey tile), going straight forward pass the cryogenic healing pods into a green-blue hallway, and then taking a left at the monkey pen. If you're a dead person (or an...unusual living person), then someone will probably send you here by shoving your body through one of the black morgue chutes in Cloning and Medbay Lobby.

In real life, a morgue is where doctors keep and organize dead bodies awaiting certain medical procedures, primarily autopsies. This is SS13, not real life though, and in SS13, bodies usually pile up into a chaotic mess in either Cloning or Robotics, with the morgue as a dead-end for people who can't be revived rather than a waiting room. Whoever designed this room understood this pretty well, for on top of the typical morgue units and closet of biosuit gear, instead of surgery tools, embalming fluid, or forensics gear, there's a fish, fresh out of its bandage wrappings for humiliating the dead, like some darkly comedic version of that Monty Python skit.

Another unusual choice: a black chute that leads back into Cloning, on top of the usual black chute into the Crematorium.

Maintenance Information

This place does have a vent, but it's connected to a closed loop exposed to space, with no way to pipe gas in or out of it. It's meant to represent some sort of refrigeration system for keeping the morgue cold for preservation, and its crudeness should show you exactly how much NanoTrasen spent building and refitting this hunk of junk.

This rather uncannily pristine white room below Medbay Hospital's cryomedicine area is a Morgue, a storage area for dead bodies. Since Medbay Hospital goes to great lengths to ensure that the deceased are cloned and/or roboticized, this room has a rather small footprint and doesn't have much more than a bottle of embalming fluid and two morgue units for preserving corpses, a hand labeler to denote the state of said corpses, and an evidence box for storing any bullets or small clues found on said corpses.

It does, however, have Morty, a cute and adorable Virginia opossum who works as the Chief Sanitation Officer. Don't try to scream too much around him; he's a sensitive but resilient guy.

Ideally, these corpses should stay fresh and pristine until someone decides what to do with them, so there are six morgue units on the top and bottom walls and a bottle of embalming fluid and box of body bags in the top right corner for preserving them.

Occasionally, somebody might want to perform some sort of autopsy on some body, to try to figure how they died and what other things happened to them. Hence, the surgery equipment, hand labeler, scalpel, circular saw, operating table, and all, in the top right. When the nearby operating room is damaged, you often see Medical Doctors using this place as its backup. (By the way, isn't it a little concerning that the morgue is right next to the surgery room? Doesn't this imply that whoever designed this place was expecting lots of botched-surgery and malpractice-related deaths?)

This room also has Morty, a cute and adorable Virginia opossum who guards a meatball pizza, so the guy who left it here can eat it later, and a freezer crate of spare organs from who-knows-where, so the enzymatic reclaimer can eat them when the cloner needs some biomatter. Don't try to scream too much around him; he's a sensitive but resilient guy.

Ideally, these corpses should stay fresh and pristine until someone decides what to do with them, so there are four morgue units on the left wall, a bottle of embalming fluid, and a box of body bags in the bottom right corner for preserving them.
