The Research Sector is a complex of research facilities located in the northeastern parts of the station. * Chemistry: You guessed it, a chemistry room, with an emergency shower room below.
* AI Chamber: The AI's personal bedroom. Research isn't specifically in charge of the AI or anything; the AI just wanted to be there.

This Research Wing/Research Sector in the upper east end of the ship, above Cargo, is the #1 place to be blinded by SCIENCE! and fail at biology. Like any good SCIENCE! lab, it offers plenty of options for your SCIENCE!-induced blindness, each like poetry in motion. Starting from the entrance, going clockwise:
*RD Office: The office and private quarters of the Research Director and their pet bee, Heisenbee, the proprietors of this establishment.
*Artifact Lounge: Researchers have finally solved mixology. The best ingredient to a cocktail is an artifact of an alien civilization. Hence, the alcohol and soda dispensers strewd among all the standard Artifact Research machines. Don't ask what the random recharger is for.
*Chemistry: These are where the chemicals you smelled came from. Don't be afraid to ask for more; the Scientists here are glad to make some more! But ask quickly, before they smother this place in an ocean of flame.
*Toxin Lab & Toxin Storage: Don't let the "toxin" part scare you. As Paracelsus said, the dose makes the poison, and the Scientists control the "dose" of plasma, oxygen, temperature, and other things to make...well, frankly, bombs. Since creating holes in the hull is a common practice for controlling the process, there are emergency hood-suit-air tank sets throughout this room and Toxin Storage for safety.
**Toxin Storage: Because dangerous yet valuable should be kept in safe place, no? Works as nice foyer to the Toxin Lab too.
*Science Teleporter: Nothing's quite like a trip to the Adventure Zone, deep as any ocean. The Scientists are usually glad to take you there with their teleportation tech and often enjoy inducing you into the vast lore behind the locations...and occasionally enlisting you in teleporter pranks.
In the hallways between these labs, you can find goodies like spare Scientist uniforms and biosuits. Of perhaps particular interest to you are the quantum telescope by the entrance into the upper hallway leading to Artifact Lounge and Chemistry and the two racks by the Science Teleporter entrance with emergency hood-suit-air tank sets and cameras, and the Port-A-Sci that, by default, has its home turf here.

Off in the bottom left/"Southeast" parts of Atlas, below Engiers and left of Medistan stands the Republic of the Union of Scientopia, known previously as Republic of the Union of Researchica and more commonly referred to as Research Sector, Science, or just Research. Whatever the name, the country has prided itself on peaceful and productive application of science and its possession of many world-class research facilities, such as:
* Chemistry: A state of the art chemistry lab. Strictly for pharmaceuticals, of course. Not chemical weapons.
* Science Teleporter: A modern Telescience facility for leading expeditions into the uncharted lands. Not stealing things from other, more charted countries, no.
* Artifact Research: An alien archeology workshop for studying other races' cultures. It just so happens that some of them make bombs. And offensive sounding instruments.
* Research Dock: One of Atlas's few pod bays, intended for delivery of additional alien artifacts.
* Toxin Storage: A storage area for the gases used in Plasma Research. Part of the National Reserve and thus not a saferoom for huffing plasma.
* Toxin Lab: A laboratory for conducting Plasma Research, particularly at high temperatures and high pressures that just so happen to be ideal temps for making weapons of mass destruction.

There's only two vents in this place, and they're both in Toxin Lab. And they're for filling the chambers with gas for combustion, not repressurizing the area. Somehow, all the other countries are still envious of these vents.
The APC for Chemistry is on its top wall, above the heater/cooler, and the Artifact Lab APC is on its left wall, near the entrance into Science Teleporter. Speaking of which, the Science Teleporter APC is near the stairs leading to the science teleporter computer, also on its top wall. Toxin Storage's APC is on its right wall, behind the tank dispenser, while Toxin Lab's APC is on its top wall, near a disposal chute.
Toxin Lab and Toxin Storage both get power through a wire that goes through their top doors, originating from a main wire in the maintenance tunnel above. Science Teleporter gets power from that same area, albeit from a cable under its bottom door.

As you know from the map-specific lobby screen, the NSS Manta was all about the plasma. Therefore, it makes complete sense that the Research Sector on the lower eastern/starboard section, where the Research Director and Scientists conduct experiments, does not do any research into plasma whatsoever, unless you count the liquid plasma used in Chemistry or the plasma farts sometimes produced by Pathology.
This place's purple-tiled corridor, however, does serve as the home turf of the department's Port-a-Sci and host a tank dispenser and one of the ship's few red soda machines and cigarette machines. More importantly, its corridors allow access to the following facilities:

On the table in the middle of the Research Sector's central hallway, you'll find a surprisingly serious, surprisingly well-written poem that reads as follows:

| |||
THE SEA
| |||
The sea, the darkness, the death and despair-
| |||
all around me all this harkens back to days with air.
| |||
My hands, my arms, my clothes and hair -
| |||
all of this will go to waste in here!
| |||
A fool I was, in days way past, to go enlist -
| |||
a braggard, he was, who convinced me of this!
| |||
I signed the paper and thus am trapped, fuck this!
| |||
The creaking of the ship, the metal closing in -
| |||
ah, the wonderful engineers, smash their shins!
| |||
Jail would be a soft fate for the likes of these!
| |||
The days go by, I hear me sigh, and dread what swam just by -
| |||
I won't survive tonight, or if I do, tomorrow. For I know why,
| |||
the metal creaks in horror. I leave this poem, to you dear reader,
| |||
please excuse the mistakes, for I fear that the pen moves too slow,
| |||
my eyes move too slow, everything is too slow, and I cannot fix the mistakes I made in here, and I cannot fix anything I have done in here.
| |||
Goodbye my reader, if you exist, please don't make my mistakes again.

The NSS Destiny's primary mission is research into the unknown, and most of that research happens here.
The Research Wing is composed of 6 main parts:
- Telescience Lab
- Research Director's office
- Robot Depot
- Toxin Lab
- Toxin Storage
- Artifact Lab
- Chemistry
- Test Chamber
- A bathroom at the end of the hall
These are (With the exception of the Test Chamber and Toxin Storage) all linked together via the primary hallway. The hallway also has a sort of indent in the South side, with an office supply closet, a water fountain, a scientist uniform locker, a table with a few office supplies, and a general manufacturer.

The primary mission of the NSS Clarion is research into the unknown, and most of that research happens here.
The Research Wing is composed of 8 parts, each devoted to some area of science:
- Research Director's office, where the
insanebrave leader of these missionaries of science resides - Telescience Lab - Spacetime manipulation, archeology expeditions HQ
- Artifact Lab - Alien archeology
- Robot Depot - Simple AI programming
- Toxin Lab - Plasma research, especially into its reactivity with other gases.
- Chemistry -
Chemical weaponsStrictly pharmaceuticals and quality-of-life enhancement drugs, for a better living through chemistry - Test Chamber - Chemistry and plasma experiments
- A breakroom with adjoining bathroom. All this science can make one quite hungry.
These are (with the exception of the Test Chamber and Toxins Lab) all linked together via the primary hallway. The north end of hallway, near the breakroom entrance, also has various science-boosting amenities, such as an office supply closet, a water fountain, some scientist uniform lockers, and a QM Supply Request computer, as well as a general manufacturer/autolathe in the maint hall separating Toxins from the rest of Research.

This laboratory complex below the Bar is where all the things that make Admins cry and yell come from. People in Security, such the Detective and Security Officers, are allowed to walk these halls, but only Scientists and the Research Director have access to the laboratories here.
The Research Wing includes the following facilities:
- Chemistry: Where all the thermite-phlogistion-chocolate-infused
buttssmoke bombs come from. - Research Director's Office: The office and sleeping quarters of the Research Director and their cute and adorable domestic space bee, Heisenbee. Heisenbee is quite a heavy sleeper, considering they can sleep through the things going on in...
- Test Chamber: The designated testing site for all the dangerous things created in Chemistry and, to some extent, Plasma Research, built entirely out of reinforced walls and flooring.
- Toxins/Plasma Research: A series of special chambers used to heat plasma for the creation of special bombs.
- Artifact Lab: An archeology lab of sorts, dedicated to deciphering the machines and tools of alien civilizations.
- Telescience Lab: A rather sparse little room for experimenting with teleportation. Come here for an adventure!...And never come back.
- GuardBuddy Depot: Home of the station's fleet of cuddly GuardBuddies, led by the seasoned Ol' Harner.
Maintenance Information
The air in the general corridor area is supplied by an air injector that's linked an air hookup below the Kitchen.

- Toxins/Plasma Research: The one place to not get a bomb when you most want it.
- Artifact Lab: The one place to find a weird alien bomb when you least want it.
- Chemistry: Gets set on fire at least twice a round.

SCIENCE!, now UNDER THE SEA!
Corridors:Scientist, Research Director, Detective, Security Officer, Head of Security |
The Research Sector is a complex of research facilities located in the northeastern parts of the station. It features a number of different laboratories, offices, and storage rooms dedicated to violating every single subsection of the Space Geneva Protocol performing SCIENCE!, but UNDERWATER!:
- Computer Core: A trippy electric green server room that houses the mainframe for Research's DWAINE network.
- Research Director's Office: An office for the cute and adorable Heisenbee and their pet human. Comes with beautiful but unfortunately non-functional bookshelves.
- Toxins Storage: A storage room with loads of gas canisters.
- Artifact Lab: An alien archaeology laboratory.
- Bathroom: An excellent place to lower subjects into porcelain caves for research expeditions, that is, swirlie them.
- Science Teleporter: A Telescience suite, loaded with plenty of supplies and open to the hallway for maximum station involvement in Adventure Zone expeditions.
- Chemistry: You guessed it, a chemistry room, with an emergency shower room below.
- AI Chamber: The AI's personal bedroom. Research isn't specifically in charge of the AI or anything; the AI just wanted to be there.
- Research Lounge: A wooden lounge room with loads of candy and the Port-A-Sci.
Off in the northeast is the Research Dock, a hangar for delivering artifacts and moving to and from the Research Outpost, Research's off-site plasma research laboratory and weapons testing range.

You'll be blinded by SCIENCE!
Labs: Research Director, Scientist |
This Research Wing/Research Sector in the upper east end of the ship, above Cargo, is the #1 place to be blinded by SCIENCE! and fail at biology. Like any good SCIENCE! lab, it offers plenty of options for your SCIENCE!-induced blindness, each like poetry in motion. Starting from the entrance, going clockwise:
- RD Office: The office and private quarters of the Research Director and their pet bee, Heisenbee, the proprietors of this establishment.
- Artifact Lounge: Researchers have finally solved mixology. The best ingredient to a cocktail is an artifact of an alien civilization. Hence, the alcohol and soda dispensers strewd among all the standard Artifact Research machines. Don't ask what the random recharger is for.
- Chemistry: These are where the chemicals you smelled came from. Don't be afraid to ask for more; the Scientists here are glad to make some more! But ask quickly, before they smother this place in an ocean of flame.
- Toxin Lab & Toxin Storage: Don't let the "toxin" part scare you.
- Toxin Storage: Because dangerous yet valuable should be kept in safe place, no? Works as nice foyer to the Toxin Lab too.
- Science Teleporter: Nothing's quite like a trip to the Adventure Zone, deep as any ocean.
Maintenance Information
The air reserve tans in North East Maint, just above the main entrance and left of the Artifact Lounge, can refill the air in the area between the labs and the Chemistry lab.

One nation under SCIENCE!
Labs: Scientist, Research Director |
Off in the bottom left/"Southeast" parts of Atlas, below Engiers and left of Medistan stands the Republic of the Union of Scientopia, known previously as Republic of the Union of Researchica and more commonly referred to as Research Sector, Science, or just Research. Whatever the name, the country has prided itself on peaceful and productive application of science and its possession of many world-class research facilities, such as:
- Chemistry: A state of the art chemistry lab. Strictly for pharmaceuticals, of course. Not chemical weapons.
- Science Teleporter: A modern Telescience facility for leading expeditions into the uncharted lands. Not stealing things from other, more charted countries, no.
- Artifact Research: An alien archeology workshop for studying other races' cultures. It just so happens that some of them make bombs. And offensive sounding instruments.
- Research Dock: One of Atlas's few pod bays, intended for delivery of additional alien artifacts.
- Toxin Storage: A storage area for the gases used in Plasma Research. Part of the National Reserve and thus not a saferoom for huffing plasma.
- Toxin Lab: A laboratory for conducting Plasma Research, particularly at high temperatures and high pressures that just so happen to be ideal temps for making weapons of mass destruction.
Maintenance Information

SCIENCE!, but this time it's ON A BOAT! that can go UNDERWATER!
Corridors:Scientist, Research Director, Detective, Security Officer, Head of Security |
Maintenance Information
There are no vents for this area. It wasn't about the vents, let me tell you that.
The APCs are located within the respective areas.
The Sea
On the table in the middle of the Research Sector's central hallway, you'll find a surprisingly serious, surprisingly well-written poem that reads as follows:
THE SEA
The sea, the darkness, the death and despair-
all around me all this harkens back to days with air.
My hands, my arms, my clothes and hair -
all of this will go to waste in here!
A fool I was, in days way past, to go enlist -
a braggard, he was, who convinced me of this!
I signed the paper and thus am trapped, fuck this!
The creaking of the ship, the metal closing in -
ah, the wonderful engineers, smash their shins!
Jail would be a soft fate for the likes of these!
The days go by, I hear me sigh, and dread what swam just by -
I won't survive tonight, or if I do, tomorrow. For I know why,
the metal creaks in horror. I leave this poem, to you dear reader,
please excuse the mistakes, for I fear that the pen moves too slow,
my eyes move too slow, everything is too slow, and I cannot fix the mistakes I made in here, and I cannot fix anything I have done in here.
Goodbye my reader, if you exist, please don't make my mistakes again.
Who's the unfortunate crew member who wrote this? Who knows...

Like any Nanotrasen ship, Kondaru has a great big Research Wing in the general southwest, where the Research Director and Scientists conduct experiments, create bombs, and mix together warcrimes. This place's purple-tiled corridor serves as the home turf of the department's Port-a-Sci. More importantly, its corridors allow access to the following facilities:

There is an air injector in the main hall, supplied by a pipe in maintenance northwest of the Science department.
The APCs are located within the respective areas.
