The Engineering Control Room in the starboard/east side of Engineering, below Engineering Storage houses three computers essential to the operation of the NSS Manta:
- The Engine Control Computer, which controls the singularity engine's emitters and field generators and allows easier startup.
- The shield generator, which raises and lowers the ship's energy shield. When there are underwater meteors or other external threats about to make contact with the ship, someone may raise the shield as protection.
- The magnetic tether. When active, jetpack-thrusters can resist the pull of water currents, ensuring their wearers can safety make it back onboard when the ship is in motion.
This room also has a machine that's purely just blinkenlights, a locker with wire, and a phone, perhaps for ordering pizza after a successful shift, perhaps for ordering extra construction supplies, perhaps for making inquiries about refrigerators. There's also a switch that controls some safety shutters in the room's windows in the bottom left.
Klaus the Guardbuddy also lives here in his own buddy dock. Follow his safety advice, and try to keep him away from Inner Engineering. The electromagnetic pulses from the singularity can make them...malfunction.
Maintenance Information
There is no vent. You don't need a vent to control things.
The APC for this room is near the bottom left wall, next to the switch.
