Just when you thought you were really stuck between a rock and a hard place when they brought you to the NSS Horizon, here's the Testing Asteroid far north of the ship, a remote outpost used by Research that is in fact an actual rock, or, rather a series of them connected by catwalks and hope. Both are rapidly deteriorating, the first because the Scientists usually test bombs on this place, the second because said bomb tests rarely show promising results.
If you want to visit it, try taking a Space Pod to the medsci beacon, going west past the solar panels, and then turning straight north. Spacewalking out of the airlock by the Chapel and heading straight north, ideally in a space suit, space helmet, and jetpack, should yield similar results. Either way, you can claim to actually between a rock (said Testing Asteroid) and a hard place (the NSS Horizon, naturally) in the process.
If you want to get off it, try the pod receiving area splitting off from the western asteroid; make an emergency pod with those Emergency Pod fabs if you need to, they're more reliable than they look. If even that's taken out, remember the jetpack in the Test Chamber.
Speaking of the Test Chamber, it and the following rooms constitute the Testing Asteroid:
