The dramatically-titled Extraction Nexus, centrally located in Nadir's research division, is a sizable set of rooms dedicated to a single device: the Harmonic Siphon, the Nadir Extraction Site's raison d'etre and its most crucial prototype, capable of extracting a huge deposit of Miraclium deep underground and transmuting bits of it into (almost) any mineral you want.
Unusually, Research and Engineering have joint custody of the Nexus (Engineers get in from the east or sometimes south); nominally, Scientists get the job of figuring out Siphon configurations and Engineers grab the materials and fix it when it blows up, but there's no strictly enforced separation of duties.
The lower section contains control and information systems for the Siphon, several bits of loose equipment relevant to Siphon operation (including resonators and the blueprints to create more), a microphone to yell at people in the upper section, fluid tanks in case of catastrophic malfunction, and radiation suit closets that will come in useful if you decide to extract something spicy.
The upper section is where the magic happens; the Harmonic Siphon is the funky-looking device dead-center in the room, and the letters and numbers striped across the floor serve as a point of reference for Siphon set-up. Tables with a bit of extra relevant equipment are tucked away by the entry airlocks, while several cameras and a RockBox flank the edges of the space; most of the edge space is left open for storage of resonators that aren't in active use.
Maintenance Information
The APC for this area is located in the lower-left entry chamber. There's a small "access port" of regular floor nestled inside the reinforced flooring near it, allowing you to sever the APC from the grid if you want to do that for some reason.
