Chiron Outpost, sometimes called Rockstation or simply Chiron, was one of the possible maps on server GOON#2, designed primarily for low-population rounds. It was designed and mapped by Kusibu/Kubius, with plenty of input from the Goonstation Discord community. It was added to the game in April 2018 and retired from the player map rotation at the request of its creator (and agreement of the coders) less than two months later, on account of its game-breaking atmospherics issues and general unfinished state. It is occasionally unretired for Admin screwery and still has an Official FIX THIS SHIT thread dedicated to its particular issues.
April 5th, 2018 - May 26th, 2018
Chiron Outpost was the first station to:
- Feature a fully lit asteroid cave system (it's still pretty spooky and airless out there though).
- Feature a custom airbridge, spanning the center of said cave system.
- Reintroduce an entirely off-station Research Wing, in the form of the Research Vessel.
- Redesign the Listening Post.
