Space Station 13 is stocked all sorts of different vending machines, which are also sometimes called vendors. These automated shopkeepers dispense everything from soda to monkeys, sometimes for free, sometimes for a price. Some are locked to certain access levels by default; others are publicly accessible. This page contains a list of all the different vending machines you can find on the station/ship and describes various mechanics associated with vending machines.
This page does not cover the Fishing Supplies Vendor, Security Weapons Vendor, and Syndicate Weapons Vendor. These may all look like vending machines, but they are actually their own separate thing, and some of the mechanics described here do not apply to them (e.g. they cannot be hacked, they have infinite stock, so they have no restock cartridges, etc.)
General Mechanics
- Some vendors require you to pay money to dispense items; you pay up by either inserting physical cash or swiping your ID card. (Spacebux is not used for vending machines.) The AI(s) and cyborgs do not have to worry about this.
- You can click-drag a vendor's sprite onto a tile or object's sprite change its output target. If you want it to automatically insert items into a crate, you can click-drag its sprite onto the crate's. If you want it to put items on the tile you're on instead of the tile the machine's on, so you don't have to pick up each individual item, you can click-drag its sprite onto your tile.
- Vending machines can be hacked by manipulating the wires.
- When people say a machine's been hacked, they usually mean it's been hacked to unlock some hidden items it normally doesn't sell; when hacked this way, the in-game hacking UI states the vendor inventory has been "expanded".
- You can also hack it to disable any access locks (which also disables AI's ability to use it), electrify the user, and/or throw items at people, which kinda hurts, but hey, free item!
- The AI can remotely pulse wires on a machine, so they can hack in some functions without needing physical tools. They can't remotely cut wires though.
- Emagging a vending machine (e.g. you're a Traitor who's bought an emag or a Wraith using Decay) "shorts out the product lock" and removes any access requirements, allowing anybody to use it. If there are no access requirements in the first place, this is not very useful for antagonist shenanigans, but it does allow you to use vendors you wouldn't otherwise have access to. For example, you could emag a NanoMed Plus to get your dirty hands on medical supplies without being part of the medical staff.
- Emagging does not change vending machine settings, e.g. it will not reveal hidden items/expand the vendor's inventory.
- You can change a vendor's access requirements using the AccessPro.
- Attacking a vending machine may cause it to tip over, resulting in huge BRUTE and a long stun. Shooting a machine and throwing someone into it can also tip it over.
- If a machine's fallen over due to the above, it can be turned back upright by clicking on it with a crowbar.
- Vending machines are compatible with MechComp.
- Vending machines have limited stock. If it runs out, you might want to refill it with a restock cartridge.
- Ion storms may mess with vending machine settings.
Restock Cartridges
A tiny little cartridge for restocking a particular vending machine. When used on a vending machine, it refills all of the items to their original amounts. This includes any hacked/hidden items, with exception of the security ammo restock cartridge for the AmmoTech; that cartridge does not restock the machine's muckshot.
Most, but not all, vending machines have an associated restock cartridge. The ones that don't are:
- Deus Ex Machina
- JaniTech
- Pizza vending machine
- Zoldorf
In addition, some vending machines do have restock cartridges, but there's no way to obtain them.
Publicly-Available Vendors
These vending machines do not have any access requirements. Many of these sell items to the general public, though a couple are job/department-specific vendors that, curiously, are not access-locked.
Books4u
Sells books, both fiction and non-fiction. Some are in-character guides to various jobs (not every job book is available) while others are simply stories for entertainment. It is usually found in some sort of publicly-accessible area, telling prospective customers, "Read a book today!", "Educate thyself!", and "Book Club meeting in the Chapel, every Thursday!"

Cigarette Machine
A vendor that sells cigarettes and all other things related to smoking, cheerfully advertising its wares with slogans like "Space cigs taste good like a cigarette should!", "I'd rather toolbox than switch.", "Don't believe the reports - smoke today!", and, of course, "Smoke!" Often found near the Bar (sometimes even within it).

Coffee Machine
The coffee machine sells coffee and other hot drinks, most notably chicken soup, an easily accessible cure for food poisoning. It can often be found in the station's/ship's hallways and other public areas.
Emagging this machine lets you buy a dubious fall-themed drink called Pumpin' Spies Latte, mysteriously snuck-in by the Syndicate. (This is one of two vending machines with a unique emag interaction.) However, this is only available during Goonstation's autumn season, meaning September, October, and November. (And remember, the servers run on UTC time.) You can still emag the coffee machine during the nine other months, but you won't unlock a new beverage.

CompTech
The CompTech in Tech Storage dispenses some of the parts needed to build more complex computers, such as ones that can use ThinkDOS. By default, it offers just mainboards/motherboards, storage drives, and basic peripherals. When hacked, it will also provide more unusual peripherals, such as prize vending modules and wireless modules, in random amounts.

Oxygen Vending Machine
Because if people are already selling water, the logical step is selling air, right? This vending machine will replace your air tanks with a set amount pure O2 -- provided you have the cash, of course. Cost of fill-up depends on both the amount of O2 you want and the size of the container.
Public MiniMed
This public vending machine sells basic medical supplies. A few of these can be found all across the station, and they can be easily recognized by their wide range of darkly comedic slogans, such as "Now 80% sterilized!". Despite what the line "ERROR: Item "Stimpack" not found!" implies, these things never sell stimpacks of any kind. Likewise with "Please contact your insurance provider for details on reduced payment options for this machine!": it is not possible to get discounted prices in-game. The full list of lines, including ones already mentioned, is shown below:
- "Address all complaints about Public MiniMed services to FILE NOT FOUND for a swift response."
- "Are you or a loved one currently dying? Consider Discount Dan's burial solutions!"
- "ERROR: Item "Stimpack" not found!"
- "ERROR: OUT OF COFFEE!" (appears only if it has no Robust Coffee when hacked)
- "It pays to be safe!"
- "It's safest to pay!"
- "Now 80% sterilized!"
- "Please contact your insurance provider for details on reduced payment options for this machine!"
- "Please, be considerate! Do not block access to the machine with your bloodied carcass."
- "There is a 1000 credit fine for bleeding on this machine."
- "We've gone green! Now using 100% recycled materials!"
When hacked, it offers more unusual fare, alongside some Robust Coffee for weary souls. If it's screaming "ERROR: OUT OF COFFEE!" though, that means hacking it won't unlock any of said coffee.

Snack Machine
Snack machines will happily sell you tons of low quality junk food as well as an array of Discount Dan's products of debatable healthiness but of an amazing taste and at an affordable price. You can buy cheap plastic utensils from this machine too, with the quality to match (that is, none). Their suite of slogans is exactly what you'd expect out of a vending machine that has more salt than Earth's oceans: "Fill the gap in your stomach right now!", "A fresh delight is only a bite away!", "Try our new nougat bar!", "Twice the calories for half the price!", and "We feature Discount Dan's Noodle Soups!"

Soda Machine
The soda machines that appear throughout the ship's/station's hallways sell various types of soft drinks (or pop/coke/sodas/fizzy drinks/fizzy juice/whatever your dialect calls these carbonated beverages). They come in red and blue, and, confusingly, both are named "soda machine", despite the different drink offerings. With that said, there is some overlap: both types of machines sell Decirprevo Bottled Water, cans of space cola, and off-brand space cola. If hacked, both types offer canned laughter (which is not a drink, but actually a gag item that makes a stock laughing sound when used) and, sometimes, liquid pizza (it's even wackier than it sounds.)
Blue Soda Machine
The blue version of the soda machine is decorated with Grife-O's logo, a sphere with two shades of blue and a swirly white band in the middle, reminiscent of the Pepsi logo. Notably, it offers Discount Dan's Spooktacular Cola, a handy source of ectoplasm for spooky antics. This machine tells prospective customers, "Decirprevo. The sophisticate's bottled water.", "Everyone can see Orange-Aid is best!", "Grife-O - the soda of a space generation!", "Spooky Dan's - it's altogether ooky!", and "The taste of nature!".

Red Soda Machine
The red-colored soda machines are the crew's main supplier of Robust-Eez, a soft drink spiked with methamphetamine. Party animals love this soda machine, because it sells Lime-Aid, a juice drink that helps reduce drunkenness. This type of soda machine also sells Dr. Pubber, a soft drink containing small doses of sedatives, and Grones Soda, famous for their radio ads taking the piss out of Discount Dan's. This is all on top of the four drinks common to both soda machine types: Decirprevo Bottled Water, space cola, off-brand space cola, and (assuming you hack the machine and luck is on your side) Soft Soft Pizza. Like its blue counterpart, it also offers canned laughter when hacked.
Besides their red covers with white wispy lines (a reference to Coca Cola), you can also identify these soda machines by their slogans: "Drink Robust-Eez, the classic robustness tonic!", "A Dr. Pubber a day keeps the boredom away!", "Cool, refreshing Lime-Aid - it's good for you!", "Grones Soda! Where has your bottle been today?", and "Decirprevo. The sophisticate's bottled water."

SoftTech
It may be 2053, but getting new software still means buying hardware. SoftTech vending machines sell data disks loaded with various computer programs, cheerfully telling customers "Welcome to the information age!", "Remember to read the EULA!", and, of course, "Don't copy that floppy!" It also sells blank disks, in singles and in seven-packs (which offer a much better unit price), a welcome boon for those running the cloner. Hacking the thing unlocks disks for ThinkDOS programs used by Command and Security, including, notably, COMMaster, used for calling the Escape Shuttle.

Syndicate Apparel
The Syndicate Apparel vending machine in the Listening Post dispenses sinister red and black space-fearing gear and storage items, plus snazzy boots and turtlenecks. While most of this clothing is intended for Syndicate agents, even non-Syndicate members can use this vendor, as there is no access lock. C.A.R.L., who is often situated near this machine, sells the cartridges for restocking this.

Vendomat
Filled with materials that absolutely will be used to create bombs. The game considers this the "standard" vendor, which is why its vendor restock cartridge is labeled "standard restock cartridge". Typically found in Tool Storage and various miscellaneous maintenance areas.

Toxins Vendomat
A special Vendomat (in fact, it just goes by "Vendomat" in-game) found in Plasma Research that has more items and a slightly wider range of products. However, it does not provide flashlights when hacked. Like the standard version, it does not have any access locks and is restocked with the "standard restock cartridge".

ID-Locked Vendors
In order to use these vending machines, you need to have specific Access Levels on your ID card (or access implant). (AIs and Cyborgs have all-access, for the most part, so while they can't wear IDs, they can still use these machines.) Almost all of these dispense items used by specific jobs and/or departments.
AmmoTech
- Main article: Security Objects#AmmoTech
Ammo for weapons in the armory, access-locked to the Head of Security by default.
Catering Apparel
- Main article: Foods and Drinks#Catering Apparel
Costumes and spare clothing for the Chef, the Bartender, and anyone else with Bar and/or Kitchen access.
Deus Ex Machina
- Main article: Chaplain#Deus Ex Machina
Costumes, religious props, extra ingredients for holy water, and a spare set of magic sandals for the Chaplain and anybody with Chaplain's Office access.
Engineering Apparel
Often found in Engineering Storage areas, the Engineering Apparel vending machine offers more than just clothes. In addition to dispensing sets of uniforms and various engineering fashion items that make you look all business, it also has a small selection of protective equipment, including firesuits, gas masks, and hard hats, as well as...construction cones? Anyways, this requires the Engineering access level, e.g. you are a Engineer, Chief Engineer, Security Officer, etc.

IgniChem
The IgniChem vends glassware and other tools for working with chemicals. Contrary to the Examine text, it does not offer any chemical precursors. However, it is indeed "ID-selective". By default, only people with Chemical Lab access can use it, which includes science personnel like the Research Director, Scientists, and Research Trainees, as well as the Head of Security, Security Officers, the Head of Personnel, and, of course, the Captain. When hacked, it can also provide street stimulant pills, ???/"cyberpunk" drugs filled with all sorts of adulterants, and a bottle of nasty poison.
Currently, this is only found on Atlas.

Standard medical uniforms and accessories are free, while headsets and PDAs are available at a price.

NanoMed Plus
By default, the NanoMed Plus is accessible by anyone with Medical Equipment clearance and can be found throughout Medbay and in the Medical Booths (if applicable). It offers a wide selection of medicines, mostly in bottle form, i.e. you'll need to transfer them to a syringe or hypospray before you can administer them. It is also a reliable source of health analyzer upgrades and dispenses refill packs for auto-menders. Hacking it unlocks some non-medical chems, including pancuronium, a potent knockout chem, and sulfonal, a combination poison and knockout drug.
