Often found wearing a snappy uniform and carrying trays of food and drink, the Waiter is a latejoin Job of the Day that is only available on Wednesdays. They are somewhat like the Sous-Chef, but instead of helping the Chef cook food, the Waiter is meant to serve the front of the house. Part host, part sommelier, part busser, they serve as the first line of defense between an irate customer and an irate Chef or Bartender. Although, in reality, most Waiters usually just hang around the cafeteria and take the time to learn how to make drinks or food in a somehow more relaxed setting then the regular kitchen jobs.
Historically, the job was added alongside the Sous-Chef in 2014 as one of the first gimmick jobs. Once the Mail Courier was promoted to full time, the Waiter took it's spot as Wednesday's job of the day. There was even once talk of making Waiters and Sous-Chef full time to acompany a possible Department of Catering, although that ended up never coming to frution... yet.
Dead Hours
Even if the Chef and Bartender aren't ignoring you, and the kitchen is actually accepting custom orders, you might have trouble finding people to wait on, especially on Classic servers without motives. Or maybe the kitchen isn't listening to your orders and the bar is empty. Consider the following to stave off the boredom:
- Find busy people hungry at workplaces and offer to deliver food to them.
- Run the ice cream cart for once.
- Advertise the cafeteria, with help from the Radio Host.
- Set cuterly at every table and make sure the cafeteria isn't a complete mess. Or even do a total revamp of the cafeteria if your bosses didn't call dibs on a remodel.
- Be the Sous-Chef equivalant to the Bartender (A bar-back?) and make easy drinks such as Triple Citrus or Rum and Cokes while they create the perfect Discount Dan Cocktail. Or help them with the still.
- Fetch weird ingredients for your bosses.
- Describe the random crap the Chef tends to make in the most flowery and sophisticated langauge possible.
- Offer to season food for the customers. More pepper, sir?
Customer Disservice
Antagonist Waiters are few and far between due to their nature as a latejoin role, and certain antagonists such as Werewolf or the Grinch they can never be. That said, as a gimmick job, they tend to easily fly under the radar, and most Chefs or Bartenders won't miss their absence. It's really easy as a result to be anonymous; most people wouldn't catch your name if you farted in their face. Plus, as a part of the kitchen staff, they have easy access to chem equipment, meaning that a patient and knowledgeable Waiter (or one with the right wiki page) can really put out a world of hurt, and then blame everything on their boss. Waiters also tend to have easy access to some robust weaponry, such as knives and rolling pins. Traiter Waiters in particular do get access to their boss's Hot Dog Cart and the Hotdog Grenades, so you have everything ready to go on a sausauge-themed rampage. Or just feel free to buy a shotgun and show those ungrateful bastards what a real tip looks like.
