Often found wearing a snappy uniform and carrying trays of food and drink, the Waiter is a latejoin Job Of The Day that is only available on Wednesdays. They are comparable to the Sous-Chef in that their purpose is to make the Chef and Bartender's jobs easier by helping them manage the cafeteria. The key difference though is that they are meant to focus on the front of the house by serving as part host, part server, part sommelier, and part busboy. In short, helping the Chef run the cafeteria like an actual restaurant. In reality, though, their real purpose is to be vocally abused by ingrates and the Chef for every little thing that happens during the meal. The Waiter's access to the Kitchen and Bar means that they can easily coordinate with the Chef and ferry food out to the restaurant floor. Plus, it allows for you to learn how to cook and mix drinks in a somehow less demanding role than regular Chef and Bartender.

Historically, the job was added alongside the Sous-Chef in 2014 as one of the first gimmick jobs. Once the Mail Courier was promoted to full time, the Waiter took it's spot as Wednesday's job of the day. There was even once talk of making Waiters and Sous-Chef full time to acompany a possible Department of Catering, although that hasn't came to frution... <strike>yet</strike>.
The Waiter has a <strike>very</strike> <strike>somewhat</strike> almost interesting history, as it started out as a popular gimmick for HoPs to give to wandering Staff Assitants who desired a purpose in life. Eventually, it was added as a gimmick job in 2014 so anybody could easily become a waiter if they wanted. When the Mail Courier was promoted to full-time, Waiter took it's place as Wednesday's Job Of The Day.

In early 2020, an ambitious plan for a catering department was drafted, and brought to github and the forums for feedback. The main change, alongside substantial additions to Botany, was a new "Head of Catering" role. It also made the Waiter and Sous-Chef roundstart roles, to help flesh out the department and give the new middle management peons to boss around. Concerns about how the Head of Personnel was going to have even less responsibilities somehow and how much the station really needs an entire department just for food was brought up. Unfortunately, due to unforseen personal issues, the project quietly shuttered, leaving the department and full-time waiter as "what ifs".
On days that aren't Wednesday, anybody can become a Waiter with enough chutzpah and a visit to the Kitchen's Apparel Vendor. Proper waiters can visit this as well to get some alternative duds. Hacking it will allow you to get cat hairbands as well if you really want to go full anime and create the perfect Cat-Maid cafe.

Today, Waiters are still the Job of the Day for Wednesday, and on days that aren't Wednesday, stuff like waistcoats and butler suits can be brought from the catering clothing vendor for Chefs and Bartenders running gimmicks, or maybe the odd staffie looking for a <strike>purpose in life</strike> tips like they did all those years ago.

Antagonist Waiters are few and far between due to their nature as a latejoin role, and certain antagonists such as Werewolf or the Grinch they can never be. That said, you have access to chem equipment so, really, the only limit to the atrocities you can commit is your imagination and determination. Plus, much like most gimmick jobs, you have a tendency to fly under the radar and most people wouldn't notice a missing waiter if they were farting in their face. So feel free to give the Captain five diseases in one burger and dissapear, leaving your boss in hot water. Syringes don't even show text when you inject food with them, so this tactic becomes very devilish as most people won't be astute enough to notice you discretly injecting their pizza slice with 15 units of capulletium. You naturally have easy access to the kitchen tools such as knives, cleavers, and rolling pins so you aren't hurting for weapons either.

Often found wearing a snappy uniform and carrying trays of food and drink, the Waiter is a Job of the Day that is only available on Wednesdays. They are somewhat like the Sous-Chef, but instead of helping the Chef cook food, the Waiter helps the Chef and Bartender serve the public by acting as part-host, part-sommelier, and part-busser. Although, in reality, most Waiters usually just hang around the cafeteria and wait for customers to show up.

Historically, the job was added alongside the Sous-Chef in 2014 as one of the first gimmick jobs. Once the Mail Courier was promoted to full time, the Waiter took it's spot as Wednesday's job of the day. There was even once talk of making Waiters and Sous-Chef full time to acompany a possible Department of Catering, although that hasn't came to frution... yet.

Essential Worker

In worse-case scenarios, no customers may bother visiting the cafe (especially on classic servers without Motives), and the Kitchen may just ignore any custom orders you give them. Waiting is more than just taking orders and fetching drinks, however; consider doing the following:

 • Offer a delivery service.
 • Plate and set all the food the Chef leaves in a pile by the kitchen window.
 • Work the Ice Cream Machine for the chef.
 • Advertise the cafeteria, with help from the Radio Host.
 • Set cuterly at every table, and return empty glasses and dirty dishes to the back.
 • Be the Sous-Chef equivalant to the Bartender (A bar-back?) and make easy drinks such as Triple Citrus or Rum and Cokes while they create the perfect Discount Dan Cocktail. Or help them with the still.
 • Fetch weird ingredients for your bosses.
 • Describe the random crap the Chef tends to make in the most flowery and sophisticated langauge possible.
 • Offer to season food for the customers. Say when...

Customer Disservice

Antagonist Waiters are few and far between due to their nature as a latejoin role, and certain antagonists such as a Werewolf or a Grinch they can never be. That said, as a gimmick job, they tend to easily fly under the radar, and most Chefs or Bartenders won't miss their absence. It's really easy as a result to be anonymous; most people wouldn't catch your name if you farted in their face. Plus, as a part of the kitchen staff, they have easy access to chem equipment, meaning that a patient and knowledgeable Waiter (or one with the right wiki page) can really put out a world of hurt, and then blame everything on their boss. Waiters also tend to have easy access to some robust weaponry, such as knives and rolling pins. Traiter Waiters in particular do get access to their boss's Hot Dog Cart and the Hotdog Grenades, so you have everything ready to go on a sausauge-themed rampage. Or just feel free to buy a shotgun and show those ungrateful bastards what a real tip looks like.
