The singularity engine no longer exists. This page is kept around for historical interest. |

What you'll need
Welder |
Wrench |
Gas Tank (Plasma) |
Optical Meson Scanners |
Always wear Meson Scanners while working around the engine. Seeing the singularity without Meson Scanners can stun and paralyze you. Then, if there are no walls to stop you, you can be pulled into the singularity and swallowed.
How it works
In a nutshell:
- Emitters provide power for the field generators
- Field generators use the power to create a containment field
- A running containment field enables the spawning of the gravitational singularity
- The singularity provides power. But if set free, it will eat anything it comes into contact with
- The Radiation collection array collects power from the singularity
- The Radiation collection controller controls the collection arrays
- The SMES cells or Power Storage Units store the power and send it to the rest of the station

How to set it up
- Secure the Emitters so they face the field generators. There NEEDS to be at least one emitter shooting at each field generator. Turn them so they are pointing in the right direction.
To secure them wrench and weld (mind your eyes and wait for the message 'you weld the emitter in place'). - Secure the Field Generators in each corner of the interior room they spawn in. To secure them wrench and weld.
- Get plasma tanks from the tank dispenser. The number of tanks is determined by the number of radiation collection arrays (one for each array), there's currently 4 arrays.
- Place the plasma tanks into the collection arrays.
- Turn on all collection arrays and array controllers.
- Open the SMES / Power storage unit control panel by clicking on it, set input to auto, input level to something between 70k and 100k. Set the output to online and output level to 30k (both are defaults)
That's what even the most brain-dead engineer can do.
How to start it
IMPORTANT: If you skipped down here, please note that the engine must be set up first! Read the section above this one for the mechanical nuts and bolts.
There are three ways. If you are an engineer the safest way is using a computer. If you are not, and you have no access to the computer program, asking AI to start up the engine is the best option.
If you decide to start the engine manually act and move carefully; falling in the containment field, you may cause it to break , releasing the singularity on the station.
I: Engine control computer
SAFE to do
MEDIUM TIME required to do it
DIFFICULT until you get used to the computer
The computer is available in the left corner of the control room. To use this method:
- Open the computer's terminal
- Put your ID Card in your hand and click on the link at the bottom of the terminal window to insert it
- Type login
- remove your card
- type dir. This will display all programs in the folder you're currently in
- type run EngineMaster This will start the EngineMaster program
- type rescan This will scan for active equipment (it might not give you a 'done', just wait a few seconds, if you don't get a response, it's probably all well and good.)
- type startup This will start the emitters and then the field generators. Don't close the program until the singularity is spawned.
- NOTE: The AI can handle all the computer work for you if you ask nicely and you've secured all the emitters and field generators. The AI cannot start the engine without someone setting those up.
II: Manual startup
DANGEROUS to do
QUICKER than asking AI way to turn it on
DIFFICULT until you understand exactly what these words below mean in practice
There are so many things that can go wrong with this kind of startup that I'll just say it's a bad idea to start it up this way until you know exactly what what can happen.
- Turn on all emitters (swipe id to lock/unlock the console, click on it to turn it on/off. It's a good idea to wait about a minute after the last emitter is on so the field generators receive some power.)
- CAREFULLY Turn on all field generators (same process as emitters)
- Go to the field generator
- Click on it. This will spawn a containment field between the two field generators. This field will shock you if you're one square away from it, that's why you should...
- RUN towards the outside! (The second time you do this you'll know when to run and when not to, but until then, do it every time)
- Lock all of the emitters' consoles by swiping your ID again if you have not done so already.
Current engine
Several emitters need to be dragged to the correct position. When you do be sure to place them facing the field generator; or the generator won't receive power, and the singularity will run free.
End result
All emitters on, field up and running, collection arrays and their controllers on, SMES set up (out of frame):
