The following information may be incomplete.
Modification to suicide vests, mousetrap rollers and canbombs is missing.

Stay a while and blow shit up!

The Basic concept

Assemblies are made out of 2 or more items. They are classified as:

Object Description Example
Trigger An object which gives the assembly the signal to do something timer, proximity sensor or mousetrap
Applier An object which does something when the assembly is triggered igniter or EMP-grenade
Target An object which modifies an appliers effect or make it work in the first place beaker or plasma tanks when using an igniter-assembly
Misc-items Miscellaneous items which are needed for advanced assemblies armor vests for health-analyser-assemblies to make suicide bomb vests

Assemblies are started by combining a valid trigger with a valid applier. E.g. using a timer on a remote signaler creates a timer/signaler-assembly. In this case, the timer is the trigger and the signaler the applier.

Assemblies created this way are unsecured. This enables you to modify them and not accidentally blow yourself up. While in this state, you can use these in hand to modify their behavior. Using an unsecured timer/signaler-assembly in hand enables you to modify the timers duration or the signal that is being broadcasted when the timer fires. You can secure or unsecure assemblies by using a screwdriver on it. While the assembly is unsecured, you are able to modify it further by adding a valid target-item or miscellaneous items onto it.

You can deconstruct an assembly by using a wrench on it while it is unsecured.

While an assembly is secured, using it in hand will immediately arm it, if possible. This allows you to have your pipebomb ready and to arm and throw whenever needed.

Pipe Bomb step-by-step construction guide

  1. Create your assembly of choice by combining an igniter with a proximity sensor/ timer/ remote signaler
  2. Combine the assembly with a pipe bomb frame
  3. Change the assembly's settings while it's unsecured
  4. Secure the assembly with a screwdriver

Example of a single tank bomb construction

For a quick reference, we will build a mousetrap/igniter/tank-assembly

  1. Use a mousetrap on an igniter. Or the other hand around, doesn't matter.
  2. Use a plasma tanks on your newly created mousetrap/igniter-assembly. You'll have to discover suitable gas mixtures for yourself.
  3. Use a screwdriver to secure it.

If you have a suitable gas mixture in your plasma tank, you sucessfully created a singletank bomb that is triggered by the attached mousetrap. Arm it in your hand and place it on the ground, in lockers or in someone else's backpack to trigger it on unsuspecting victims.

Assembly-Triggers

A trigger for an assembly is where it all starts. This object's purpose is to activate the assembly and do whatever it needs to do. Many Triggers can be adjusted when the assembly is not secured. These very often will be activated when the assembly is used in hand while active. The following tables show the compatible assemblies and their corresponding effect:

Item Image Behaviour when used in hand while secured Behaviour when used in hand while unsecured Activates the assembly when: Notes

Timer Activates the timer Opens a menu to adjust the timer The active timer runs out The most basic method to activate an assembly. Secure the assembly, use it in hand and throw it like a grenade.
Proximity Sensor Activates the delay of the proximity sensor Opens a menu to adjust the delay of the proximity sensor before arming Either:
  • when someone walks near the armed proximity sensor
  • when the armed proximity sensor is dropped/thrown
Proximity sensors make the perfect way to trap hallways. Set the timer, activate it and throw it on the ground. After the delay is over, you got a nifty landmine ready to catch unsuspecting personnel.
Remote Signaler Nothing Opens a menu to adjust the remote signalers frequency and code When the assembly receives a signal with it's corresponding code Signalers are great to have on-command active effect available. From remote-activated bombs to mechcomp-controlled bike horns, these are among the most versatile parts of assemblies out there. To continue reading on how to activate assemblies via packets, go to this page
Mousetrap Arms the mousetrap De-arms the mousetrap When the mousetrap is armed and someone:
  • steps on the mousetrap
  • tries to open a container the assembly is in
  • tries to open a locker/cart the assembly is in
This thing enables a lot of devious traps. Want to punish security for searching you? Activate a mousetrap and stuff it in your backpack. These little things are the perfect tools to punish noisy people who can't keep their noses out of stuff.
Flash Uses the flash in your hand and directly triggers the assembly Nothing Either:
  • when the flash is used in hand
  • when you attack someone with the flash
Flashes, when used in assemblies, will behave exactly like normal flashes. The exception is that any opportunity in which they are activated, e.g. used in hand or used to flash someone, will cause the assembly to activate. Be careful, since the center of the assemblies effect will be the location of the assembly, that means you.
Geiger Counter Nothing Nothing When the person the geiger counter is on is affected by radiation This little tool goes off whenever its wearer is affected by radiation. This also works when the assembly is in backpacks or boxes, for as long as its that object is on a person. Strap it with a signaler on a monkey and turn your monkey into a radiation-detector!
Health Analyzer Nothing Nothing When the person the health analyzer is -directly- on dies This is your tool for deadman switches. Keep it in your pocket or turn it into a Suicide bomb vest and have it activated when you die. Keep in mind, however, that it won't trigger instantly. Instead, there is a 4 second delay between your death and final parting gift. Also, it will likely not go off when you suicide, you have to die proper for it to consistently work.

Assembly-Applier/Target-Effects

Appliers of assemblies do something when the assembly fires. They determine the main-effect of the assembly. Targets, on the other hand, are optional components that drastically modify the effect of the applier. The different combinations are in the following table:

Applier Image Compatible Target Effect Notes
Igniter Nothing Heats the tile the assembly is on The typical igniter-assembly is mostly there to ignite things around it. Plasma gas, fuel tanks, that kind of occupational hazards.
Pipe bomb Explodes the pipebomb, dealing damage depending on the used chemicals, materials and additives Igniter-pipebomb assemblies are commonly referred to as "pipe bombs".
plasma tanks Explodes the gas tank. Igniter-plasma tank assemblies are commonly referred to as "singletank bombs". The effect of the singletank depends on the gas mixture. High heat, high plasma-containing gas causes explosions while anything else causes the gas in the singletank bomb to be dispersed in the surrounding. In case of things such as sleeping gas, that might exactly be what you want.
Beaker Heats the mixture in the beaker Use these kind of assembly to create so called "beakerbombs". Depending on your knowledge in Chemicals, you can create all kinds of explosives or gas grenades.
Butt Explodes the butt, causes a loud fart sound and releasing fart gas in the air. Use these kind of assembly to create so called "buttbombs". A funny item to do all kind of fun pranks. On its own its pretty harmless.
Multitool Nothing Causes a shock on the tile the assembly is on Multitool assemblies can used to caused electrical sparks on locations, causing minor burns and a small stamina drain.
plasma tanks Explodes the gas tank. Works exactly like it's igniter-counterpart. But often times, this is just a stepping stone to a greater kind of bomb.
Hand Teleporter Nothing Creates a portal on the tile of the assembly Hand Tele-Assemblies allow the remote creation of portals. Assemblies with hand teleporters are compatible with rechargers. Like when you use these yourself, the assembly or the person holding it won't be instantly teleported when the portal is created, allowing the safe use of these.
To choose the location of the assembly, use it in hand while it is unsecured.
Grenades Nothing Instantly detonates the grenade Grenades can be limited to use. If you want to better control when and how a grenade detonates, turning it into an assembly might be an idea.
Bike Horns Nothing Causes the assembly to honk One of the all time stars among clowns. Use this to annoy the living crap out of your crewmates
Power Cell Nothing Exlusive when using flashes as triggers.
The area of effect flash is highly improved. The direct attack with the flash drains a lot of stamina and, depending on the cell power, sets the poor victim on fire.
Flash/Cell-Assemblies are very powerfull tools that allow to stun someone with only a few hits.
Flash Nothing Causes an area of effect flash, as if you would use the flash in hand. For when you want to turn your trap into a light show. Keep in mind that the assembly is as susceptible to wear as the flash on its own.
Power Cell Massively boosts the power of the flash, but instantly burns out the bulb upon use You need much less of these to stun someone, making them very usefull for ambushes.
Remote Signaler Nothing Sends out a signal with the specified code over a certain frequency. Signaler assemblies can be used to chain together other assemblies or to interface with mechcomp.
To choose the frequency and the code of the signaler, use it in hand while it is unsecured.
Butt Nothing Creates a fart, releasing a small amount of fart gas. Butt-assemblies, like bike horns, are cherished among clowns and other jokesters.
Panic Button Nothing Activates the panic button, as if you would press it yourself. Sometimes, you want to have the panic button automated, e.g. as a dead man-switch or to cause a distraction.
Light Cyborg Arm Nothing Flicks off towards the nearest person. On it's own, it doesn't do much... except being rude
Pie Causes the pie to be thrown at the nearest person. When you are not in the general area to throw the pie in the face of the person that deserves it. To reenact the pie-in-the-present-gag use this in a mousetrap-assembly.
