Humans
Bipedal mostly hairless apes who come in many colors. Humans are the default race, and thus the most ubiquitous, and all races usually are mechanically and cosmetically like humans unless otherwise noted.
Occurrence: You can always play as one. The GeneTek consoles start capable of turning other races into humans (and other races if the console encounters them).
Human by Default under Silicon Laws?: Yes, obviously.
Cosmetic Differences: None.
Gameplay Differences: None.
Martians
Bulbous tentacled creatures famous for deploying strange organic technology and claiming they're not actually from Mars.
Occurrence: Tourists, Diplomats, and Merchants can occasionally spawn as them.
Human by Default under Silicon Laws?: No.
Cosmetic Differences:
- Speak "Martian", which only other player Martian mobs can understand. They cannot understand words said by NPC Martians critters, like those in certain derelicts.
- No options for hair.
Gameplay Differences: Can only wear back items, glasses/goggles, and gloves.
