Messing with a hypothetical Computers page. Might lead somewhere.

The station is littered with computers, which basically fall into two categories:

  • Normal computers, built around a circuit board providing all the software. Any computer with a GUI, basically.
  • Heavy computers and Terminals, built around a mainboard and probably some modules. Either can run ThinkDOS or TermOS just fine, but pre-built terminals tend to run TermOS while heavy computers run ThinkDOS.

Want to build one? Check out the guide.

Normal computers

Item Image Description
Science Teleporter
File:SciTeleComp.png
Located in Telelab. Sets coordinates for the Science Teleporter.
Teleport Computer
File:TeleComp.png
Located in the Teleporter Room. Locks in the target coordinates for the teleporter.
TV
TV.png
Reality shows! Lets you look through certain cameras. Portioned out here and there on the station.
Supply Request Console
SupplyRequest.png
Where the hoi polloi go to put in requests for the Quartermaster to fill. There's one outside Cargo Bay, one in the Bridge and one in the Catering Pod Bay.
Barcode Computer
Barcodecomp.png
Located in Cargo Bay and all the depots linked to Belt Hell. Prints barcodes for sticking on things so the cargo routers know where to send them. There exist a "General Barcode Computer" and a "QM Barcode Computer", but right now there's no difference.
ID Computer
IDcomp.png
Lurks in Customs. Used to change ID access level, and (rarely) to check the crew manifest.
AI Upload Computer
File:AIComp.png
Just sits there until you feed it an AI law module.
Robotics Control Computer
RoboticsControl.png
Lists all active Cyborgs on the station, and can be used to blow them up. Don't do that without a good reason Jesus Christ!
Bank Records
ATMBank.png
Shows the three budgets (Payroll, Research and Shipping), and lets you transfer money between them. Also lets you set crewmembers' wages, and mess with their bank accounts.
Solar Panel Control
Solarcomp.png
Shows orientation and power output from connected solars. Can be used to manually set the rotation of the solars, but that's usually not necessary.
Surgery Computer
File:SurgeryComp.png
Located in Robotics. Currently doesn't work, supposedly scans for implants in whoever is lying on the adjacent surgery table.

Advanced computers

Item Image Description
Terminal
Terminal.png
Fits up to two modules (one of which pretty much has to be the ID scanner), requires 3 sheets of metal to build.
Heavy Computer
Heavycomputer.png
Fits three modules, take 5 sheets of metal to build.
Mainframe
File:Mainframe.png
TermOS computers connect to these. They run all the software needed to interact with all the other junk that's connected to the mainframe. The TermOS article is more in-depth about all this.
Data Terminal
File:Dataterminal.png
If you want a computer to connect to a network, it needs two things: A network card, and to be built on top of one of these.
DWAINE Terminal
Terminal.png
Found in Artifact Lab and the RD's Office. Has no floppy drive, but a terminal card (network/printer combo). Runs TermOS.
Personal Computer
Personalcomputer.png
A computer running ThinkDOS, with a sound synthesizer module, a terminal card and e-mail software installed.
Communications Console
CommConsole.png
A ThinkDOS computer with COMMaster pre-installed. Used to call the Emergency Shuttle. The Bridge has two, and it's quite possible to build your own if the Bridge is gone.
Medical Computer
File:Medcomp.png
Found in Medbay and the Bridge. Actually a ThinkDOS computer running MedTrak.
