As it says on the thing, it scans IDs to confirm access levels. In the sprite sheets, this is called "card_mod". As of this upload, ID modifier modules, ATM card modules, terminal cards, printer modules, floppy drive modules, Tape drive modules, and ROM cart reader modules all share sprites with this guy.
