Your first 5 minutes

Be prepared. You need to hit the ground running. Spend a few minutes to get a mixture of offense, defense, and utility items to accomplish your round goals or for when that wizard / syndicate / other asshole comes in and wants to ruin your day. The worst thing in the world is to know that had you spent a few minutes you could have prevented your own death. The various professions all have their own special benefits so your first 5 minutes of any round is going to be different depending on profession. They all have one thing in common - a fast start in all cases is the key to success.

Chemist

You probably spawned in chemistry! Congrats! Your best defense and weapons are beakers full of horrible/amazing things. Your primary disadvantage is you have no ranged capability and are pretty weak. Your best synergies are making healing chems for medical and fertilizer for botanists.

Grab large beaker(s)

Grab Two 100u Large Beakers and silently thank Haine for adding them. If there are 3-4 chemists, maybe only grab one. Stick it in the dispenser, fill it with 20 silicon, eject, tighten your grip and...

Check those artifacts!

Two artifacts spawn in the little bay south of the artifact lab. Run over and try picking them up. If you can pick one of them up and it doesn't have a handle, it might be an artifact beaker! Stick it in a chem dispenser later to see if you won the saltpeter lottery. Touch the artifacts, hit them with your oxygen cylinder, click-drag a welder out of the toolbox and burn them. Splash 10 units of silicon on each. Didn't activate? Oh well. Did? Well it's probably a noisemaker so just shove it in the mass driver in the south wall. Hopefully it didn't borg you. Run back to chemistry and...

Make some synthflesh

Click-drag the syringe box on the table and grab a syringe. Draw 15 units of your own blood and throw one of your large beakers in the chem dispenser. Mash buttons in this order:

  • Hydrogen Oxygen Sulfur Aluminum Hydrogen Oxygen
  • Isolate Styptic Powder
  • Carbon Carbon Carbon

Eject your beaker, inject your blood into it, then draw 15 more units and do it again. Tighten your grip on the beaker and stick it in your pocket for quick access. Throw the syringe away. You now have a 90 synthflesh 10 styptic large beaker. 10 units will heal you up from heavy damage and can save countless lives. If you're feeling generous, do it again and put the beaker on the rightmost counter so that doctors can get it.

Drink some saline-glucose

Saline-glucose is amazing. It passively heals brute+burn and removes shock if go into crit. Stick your beaker in the Chem Dispenser and mash:

  • Chlorine Chlorine Sodium Sodium Water Water
  • Sugar Sugar Sugar Water Water Water
  • Isolate Saline-Glucose

Eject the beaker and stick it in the CheMaster. Create a pill and hit enter. Eat the pill and pick the beaker back up. Each 90u pill provides 11 minutes of passive regeneration and you can have up to 41 minutes (320u) in you. Make and swallow as many pills as you feel like. An additional passive benefit is that you're similar to an almost-full beaker and have no room for a large amount of harmful chems! Make a booster pill or two if you want to use (abuse) this.

Get some emergency offense

Your best bet is a spray bottle or beaker filled with YOU'RE ON FIRE. It doesn't do a ton of instant damage, but it's a good deterrent, attention getter, and does make it so they have to go put themselves out rather than murder you. It can also be made quickly and is reasonably effective. Stick your second beaker in the machine and mash

  • Chlorine x2 + Fluorine x6

Eject the beaker, stick beaker in heater set to 1000, activate, move back a step. Wait for the fireball, eject, put back in Chem dispenser

  • Aluminum + Iron + Oxygen
  • Ethanol + Sugar

Eject the beaker, and go to the supply closet north and click on the welding tank. Tighten your grip on the beaker and stick it in your other pocket.

You've now got offense and defense, as well as passive regeneration!

Fast Pentetic Acid

Note: Order is important, as is the heating temperature:
  • Get a 100u beaker
  • Carbon + Ethanol + Hydrogen x4 + Oxygen + Silver
  • Heat to >625, While heating, get the Welding Fuel tank and drag it in.
  • Add welding fuel to beaker
  • Remove 10 Oil
  • Nitrogen + Oxygen + Oxygen + Chlorine + Sodium
  • Isolate 60 Pentetic Acid
If you want 90 units of Pentetic Acid, you can modify it slightly:
  • Get a 100u beaker
  • Carbon + Ethanol + Hydrogen x4 + Oxygen + Silver
  • Heat to >625, While heating, get the Welding Fuel tank and drag it in.
  • Add welding fuel to beaker
  • Remove 10 Oil
  • Nitrogen + Oxygen + Oxygen + Hydrogen + Nitrogen
  • Remove Hydrogen, Nitrogen
  • Remove Embalming, Welding Fuel to 15
  • Chlorine + Sodium + Chlorine + Sodium
  • Isolate 90 Pentetic Acid
