Welcome to Goonstation! Goonstation is a branch of Space Station 13.

In Space Station 13, your goal is to survive! You should work with your fellow players to have a fun, exciting experience.

Some players in the game may be antagonists. Their goals vary, but it often involves murder and destruction!

If you aren't an antagonist, you should not attack other people or the station for no reason!

Basic controls

Use the W, S, A, D keys to move around. Hold Shift to sprint.

Use the I, J, K, L keys to change what direction you face.

Other important hotkeys:

T Talk. This will open a box for you to type your message.
Y Talk over the radio. You can also start a message with ";".
F Fart. This button is very important; press it often.
F1 Adminhelp. You can contact an admin if something has gone wrong or you think someone is breaking the rules.
F3 Mentorhelp. You can ask mentors questions about how to play or how things work.

If you think someone is breaking the rules, adminhelp it!

Status information

At the top right of your screen is your health and status information.

Your current health. Ranges from green (good) to red (bad). "Crit" is critical health — you're dying.

Your stamina. It regenerates over time. Getting hit and sprinting reduces it.

The temperature. If it's too hot or cold, you'll take damage from being (frost)burned.

This appears if you aren't getting enough oxygen, either from there being no air or other health issues.

In game, you can also hover over these icons to get an explanation of what they mean.

Inventory

This bar appears at the bottom of the screen. It shows the items you currently have equipped or held.

(This assumes you're using the Goon HUD. You can switch to a /tg/-style HUD by selecting "Game > Interface > Use /tg/-style HUD".)

Keyboard shortcuts for the item in your active hand:

   E / MMB Swap hands.
C Use item. Toggles flashlights, eats food, etc.
V Equip item. If you already have something equipped, it will be swapped. You can also click .
   Q Drop what you're carrying.
P Pick up an item next to you. If there's more than one thing nearby, you'll get a list of things to choose from.
Space Hold and click to throw.

To open equipped containers (boxes, backpacks, etc), click on them with a free hand. To put an item into them, click the container with the item selected.

To open containers on the ground or inside a backpack, click and drag them onto your sprite.

To remove a backpack (or box, etc) from your back or belt, click and drag it to a free hand.

Intent System

Intents determine how you interact with players and other objects. You can change intent by clicking on the icons or using a hotkey.

1: Help. With this, you can click on someone who's knocked down to help them up, or give critical people CPR.
2: Disarm. Clicking someone with this will try to knock someone's item out of their hands or push them to the ground.
3: Grab. Clicking someone will grab them. Clicking again or pushing C will strengthen your grip.
4: Harm. This will make you attack people, either by punching them or hitting them with whatever you have in your hand.

You can change what part of the body you're targetting by clicking the target icon in your inventory bar.

Other stuff

You can drag objects and people behind you by holding Ctrl and clicking them. To stop pulling, click the PULL button.

You can slide objects around you if you get stuck. Start pulling an object with Ctrl + LMB, then click next to the object. If there's space, it will slide over.

In some cases, you can also click-drag your sprite onto crates, lockers, etc to scoot past them. This can help you get un-stuck.

Click the RUN button or press - to switch between running and walking. Hold Shift to sprint.

Click the STAND button or press Equals to switch between standing and laying down (REST). If you're in a bed, laying down will make you sleep. Click the button to wake up (it may take a bit).

Click the RESIST button or press Z to begin blocking. Resisting will also let you escape handcuffs. If you're on fire, lay down and resist to roll around and extinguish the flames.
