Precision Radiation Emitters have a cost so high (150) that it can't be researched even with reduced cost (120). --Conor12 (talk) 22:07, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

I went overboard adding as much as I did already. It's tempting to fill out everything in a real OCD sort of way, but it takes the mystery out too. Stopping now while there's still some secrets left. --Don (talk) 13:42, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

Yo, I'm going to fix this shit. I'll leave out descriptions on basically all of the "hidden" genes, but aside from that, I'll do my best to make sure that this is completely and utterly up to date. --Baneofgiygas (talk) 22:30, 9 March 2015 (CDT)

Secret Mutations

Are the effects of the Booster Genes secret? I found out what Booster Gene X does, and if they aren't secret, they should go on this wiki for everyone to see.

Thoughts of Rewrite

Listening to others'...feedback and looking through this guide, I can see some real opportunities for improvement. At least, I wish I could find a way to fit the Normal Workflow and such better. It'd definitely help if people in-game were more descriptive than "the whole page is shit".

Also, why does DNA Injectors have its own section? - Studenterhue (talk) 05:05, 11 August 2017 (GMT)

Well, Normal Workflow and such is going to the Geneticist page. It fits in better there, since that section pertains towards them in particular. I'm intending for this to be a general guide to the genetics system and the GeneTek computer that encompasses it, and that section talks about how geneticists should do their job.

On the other hand, people who want a guide to the genetics mechanics and the GeneTek also tend to be Geneticists, so I can see why there'd be a section on it. Perhaps I'll add some link to that section later. - Studenterhue (talk) 01:53, 11 February 2018 (GMT)

I'm in the process of editing the Guide. I've failed to find a Style guide, but I did find Guide to Contributing to Wikistation. I'll make tiny edits and respect the choices made by my predecessors. Geneticist was my first role and currently my favourite role! :) I was taught by Doctor Lance, a very patient and knowledgeable player who abandoned their role as a Vampire to teach me genetics. I wish to give back and, in the process, solidify my knowledge so I can pass it on to the next generation of players. Mara Arin (talk) 09:32, 22 November 2020 (GMT)

I appreciate the addition of Research requirements and attempts to reorganize the page and shorten some lengthy sections. However, I feel like you edited out a fair amount of useful information as "needless". I'll add them back in myself. As for style, I don't really care much so long as it works and isn't encouraging people to grief as non-antag (even though there is probably a case for formalizing style guidelines). - Studenterhue (talk) 22:59, 23 November 2020 (GMT)
Thank you! :) I did make some courageous edits. Please do add back in whatever info I've deleted. I'll take a look at your edits and try to find a pattern. If I can find it, I'll help you out. I try not to encourage a playstyle. I only wish to inform the reader. I do not want to spoil the discoveries or discuss optimal strategies, I leave that to the player. For everything else, there are the Rules. Mara Arin (talk) 06:48, 24 November 2020 (GMT)
Great edits! :) Just when I thought I knew everything about Genetics... :P Mara Arin (talk) 14:28, 26 November 2020 (GMT)

Incorrect Information

Hey, please don't put incorrect information on the wiki User:Nnystyxx. Synchronized Self-Biomass manipulation has not changed in its functionality. -ZeWaka (talk) 01:11, 28 September 2017 (GMT)

Mara Arin's Style and Convention Notes

I failed to find a style guide so I'll document the style and conventions I have in mind for the Guide:

  • Follow the spirit of the Guide to Contributing to Wikistation: mark minor edits as minor, describe images, use templates and categories, keep jokes to a minimum
  • Respect the style and conventions set by previous contributors
  • Omit needless words
  • Links that lead to other pages like Research Menu or Stored Mutations are in bold
  • Buttons and actions like Eject Occupant or Scramble DNA are in italic
  • Hyperlink only when a mechanic, object, machine, concept or phrase appears the first time
  • Mechanic, object, machine, concept or phrase like GenTek Console, Mutation, Chromosome or DNA Activator are capitalized
  • Headers appear in the same order as they appear in the GenTek Console Research Menu (perhaps there is a more clever way to arrange them)

I'd love to hear what others think! :) Mara Arin (talk) 10:07, 22 November 2020 (GMT)
